The Backstory
To start with, I am a woman of African heritage and have melanated brown skin. I though it was important to mention this as the subject is quite specific.
I had been using Nivea deodorant for a long time and used the same one for over 5+ years. I noticed the availability of this particular deodorant (dry confidence) becoming like gold dust both online and places such Superdrug and Boots. So I want ahead and purchased another one from the same brand (Derma Dry Control).
Once I tried (Derma Dry Control), I knew immediately it was not a favourite, however I carried on using it. 1.5 months later, which brings us to today's date, I noticed during his time, my armpits getting darker and darker whilst feeling a bit of tenderness.
It was easy to noticing the gradual change (when the overproduction melanin was happening) as I have great visibility of my armpits, doing yoga on a regular basis in front of glass mirrors as well as being at the very front of the class.
Conclusion
So Why is it that some deodorant cause more armpit melanin? Simply because of the ingredients. I really have not had the time to go through each ingredients simply because of the shock horror. My main focus is on rectifying the issue and I will return with and update which I will link here.
Moving Forward
Today I decided I no longer wish to play hop-scotch with deodorants, via the high street. I will now move forward with a deodorant by the very skincare brand I use on a daily basis. You guesses it (Aesop).
There are a few I wish to try, and I will start off with the Aesop Herbal Roll-On and go from there. What I am most excited about id the fact that the standard size is in the format of a travel sized toiletry.
On the journey to restoring the original gradient of my armpits, I will be be treating my armpits by using the Activating scrub by Ava Estelle. I have been using this brand on my skin since it's launch in 2020 when they went by their previous name of Essie Care.
Stay tuned for my results.
