From relaxed hair junkie at the age of 3 up until the age of 22 where I transition to my natural hair, till this very day at aged 32, my top asked questions are: What did you do to get your hair like that?, Is that your real hair?, Is that a wig? Oh I though you had tracks?, Whos does your hair?, Your hair is such good quality?, what do you put in your hair?. Are you full Nigerian, Are you sure you have not got white in you?.

With all the above being said it was time to share with the routine with all the lovely men, women, boys and girls who've urged me to share. Here are 5 reasons reasons why:

I had no idea the demand was a real demand

1. We all have those repetitive questions or even hear the same things from different people from al different walks of life, but sometime we tend to just ignore it. Its just another Wednesday or Friday where someone is saying the same things. We just smile and take the complement. I was today years old when I came to the realisation that there is a lack of knowledge shared within the afro hair community on the actual mainatinace of Afro Natural hair that is not via YouTube or via somas who wears their hair out of protective style all year round like myself.

There is trust where there is proof

2. I've never really asked myself why it is people ask me for a routine and that is simply because I am used to it. What really takes time is trust and to gain trust, there has to be proof. The proof is what I had all along because I had a track record go healthy hair that was ultimately straightened and in consistent great condition. I am grateful there are large numbers of people who trust me when it comes to advice on their haircare. It's time to do something with it. After all I do not want the trust to be in vain.

Hair Junkies Throw People Off and Cause Confusion

3. I'm sure some of you can testify that during the natural hair movement around 2012/13+ we all subscribed to countless yotubers in hopes to replicate their hair success stories. We purchased spray bottles, oils, products to hydrate and seal, you name it. Some of us were convinced we had the same curl pattern as our faves and imitated them. Only to commute and realise whilst walking down park lane, 1 hour into our community, we looked nothing like we did when we left home. The frustration and confusion left us in awe, making some of us feel as though our natural hair was working against us. I managed to gain control over my own hair and quit the advice firn the hair junkies because there were so many other factors when it came to achieving your desired hairstyle. There's genetics at hand, health deficiencies, nutrition, different habits and the list goes on.

Visiting A Professional Often Is Not Sustainable

4. Going to a professional is not sustainable for everyone and here's why. When some think of professional hair salon visits, the cost or even feeling like the stylists do not have their best interest at heart is disheartening. If having healthy hair means spending hours in the salon, or that it will put you out of pocket, this is deemed unsustainable. What I will say is, professional visits are important for successful hair growth because those ends do need trimming. There are ways around going to a professional every 8+ weeks vs every 2/3 weeks and I will be sharing how via the Haircare blog.

I Am More Passionate about Hair Than I Realise

5. Lets face it (and I speak to myself when I say this). You have to be passionate about hair in the way I am, to be writing this post at 2am whit everyone's still chomping on their christmas leftovers. My ASMR is watching hair being trimmed and seeing hair being restored. I get a kick out of just washing my hair on a weekly basis. This was not always my story (especially when I met my natural hair at the age of 22). I really wanted to relearn about my hair. 10 years on and this London girl has the routine on lock.
